Item 9273

Item 9273 is a collection of 26 black and white photographs contained in a brown 305mm x 253mm “COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA – POST-MASTER GENERAL’S DEPARTMENT” with “O.H.M.S.” shown in the top left corner.

 The envelope has no formal address, but hand written comments in black felt pen on the front says “Do Not Bend” “Coax Loading Photo’s”, with the name of “Jack Healy P.R.” hand written in black biro.

The photographs can be separated into 2 groups –

Official PMG Prints:-

10 photos, all 213mm x 159mm, are stamped on the back “P.M.G’S DEPARTMENT, ENGINEERING BRANCH, CENTRAL STAFF, DRAFTING SECTION, PHOTOGRAPH” with a Neg. No. beginning with C4067, followed by a letter from “A” to “N”.  The Neg No. C4067K was used twice, a long distance view “C4067K”, and then a close up view “C4067Ka”.

External Prints:-

16 photos, produced from 8 negatives, all stamped on the back “STUART PEMBERTHY PTY LTD, PHOTOGRAPHERS, MELBOURNE” are in 2 sizes. There are 8 small photos all 219mm x 166mm, and 8 large photos all 258mm x 203mm. All have a hand written Neg. No. from C3036 to C3043 on the back.
