Item 9265

Item 9265 is a black and white photograph and a hand written letter contained in an “OFFICIAL MAIL” 228mm x 105mm “TELE-COMMUNICATIONS DIVISION – AUSTRALIAN POST OFFICE” envelope, with “O.H.M.S.” shown in the top left corner.

 The envelope has an original address of:-

“Mr. Ian Cain, PRO Exchanges, Telecom Australia”

Shown on the front of the envelope is “MTX CTO, 1935”  and “MAIN TRUNK EXCHANGE, BRIS, ABOUT 1935”

The 86mm x 59mm photograph contained within the envelope is marked on the back “PRINTED BY Phil VICTORSEN, BRISBANE”

The enclosed letter addressed to Ian Cain, dated 7.7.77 says:-

“The enclosed photograph was taken in the old MTX probably about 1935.

One of the men on duty is Alan Simpson. I don’t know the others, but there could still be people around who do know their names.

The photo may be of value to the Historical Society”
