PMG Parade - Maryborough 1951

About this Collection

Item 9259 is a collection of 19 black and white photographs contained in a white 230mm x 160mm envelope marked “Australia Post” with “OFFICIAL MAIL” shown in the top right corner.

The envelope has no address, but hand written comments in blue pen on the front says “Apparently M’boro Parade 1901-1951”.

                9 assorted size photographs are numbered with a felt pen, but no other details shown.

                Another 10 photographs (all ‘postcard’ size) have no details shown.

 

Included in the envelope are several documents

      • Letter Q385/2/3 to “Director Posts & Telegraphs” with details of costs for a Broadcasting Float – Jubilee Procession Maryborough 9/5/1951.
      • A number of letters pined together with details and approvals from the Director, Superintendent Personnel, Public Relations Officer, Supervising Draftsman, and Superintending Engineer.
      • A letter from “Queensland Postal Institute, Maryborough Branch” to the “Public Relations Officer, GPO, Brisbane” with details of staff and their clothing, vehicles and their decoration and presentation, and displays on the day of the parade. Attached is a sketch of a proposed trailer, and awards for parade presentation.
